October 3, 2011 / 09:19 something new: transparency and layers
I’m exploring two levels transparent framing. These two works go in October to Affordable Art Fair in UK (with 9 more).

September 26, 2011 / 21:49 The other face series
I got an old book with japanese prints from Yakov Feldman. «Draw on it» — he suggested. Actually, they have been beautiful without my drawings. But I was curious, if I can make something completely new out of it…

July 10, 2011 / 23:30 More spaghetti. Now also in red :)
I guess, until I get rid of all these spaghetti that occupied my mind, I cannot continue with my other ideas. So I patiently draw one line after another, while watching
…sometimes I wonder, who is actually drawing? ![]() + one more
June 29, 2011 / 09:23 blue spaghetti eaters
It took me a while to put in in words, but I think my drawings are kind of book graffiti. So I decided to go farther with this feeling and to mix spray color and old books. There is something uncontrollable (for me) and fun in a spray color, so different from my slow obsessive way of drawing.

June 25, 2011 / 22:17 A Season in Heaven
at 30/6/11 there will be a «White Night» in Tel Aviv, the night when many urban galleries and studios are open and a lot of music bands play for free (and not) all around the city. I also will be there and even participate at the opening of a group exhibition A Season in Heaven at Florentin 45 gallery.

June 21, 2011 / 10:48 mirror, mirror on the wall
I like when something that looks like art pops up from unexpected places. Like a mirror effect on my web camera — for days I’m absolutely ensorcelled by it’s accidental symmetry.

June 17, 2011 / 13:22 very little work
It even hasn’t enough place for my stamp :) Still thinking about the name…

March 8, 2011 / 01:37 «midlife crisis»
it’s the name of the picture, not me having a crisis :)
But I am familiar with the feeling. ![]()
March 8, 2011 / 00:54 in front of me now…
See the old porcelain statuette in the middle? I got from my grandma. And she got it from her pupils while being a teacher of Russian literature and language in Minsk. It used to stand in the the buffet, behind the glass, and as a child I was forbidden to play with it. Of course I took it out of the buffet when nobody was around. But, well, it wasn’t so interesting to play with it anyway. Later, I read Gogol’s «Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka» and recognized that scene. Cool book, btw — ukranian fantastic realism :)
Two puppet heads next to it I bought in a puppet-workshop in Burma. It was to heavy to carry around the whole dolls in backpack. The funny bird with long legs and a gramophone next to it I bought on a flea market in Jaffa. And a little bear in the left corner — it’s a Russian Winnie-the-Pooh, yes, Russian Winnie-the-Pooh is black! But this one has also unusual long gray fur. My dad was carrying it around as a talisman. Then gave it to me, when we met after 17 years. ![]() © 2007—2012 Lena Revenko |
